As we realized many visits to this blog are from abroad, we have decided to give you some information in english. We will try to do this every now and then. Today we will start with a brief description of our production of wines.
Cantina Deidda was founded in 1998 after the project of transforming noble Sardinian wines into high quality sparkling wines with the traditional method, also known as the champenoise method.
This method, which was invented by the French monk Dom Perignon, was renamed playfully by Mr Deidda as the "Sardenoise method" as the grapes chosen for
Marzani Brut and
Marzani Brut Riserva are autochthonous grapes: Vernaccia and Nuragus. This choice makes our traditional method wines unique in their genre.
Cantina Deidda also produces three red wines and two white wines.
Simmaco, named after the Pope and Saint originally born in Simaxis, is made with typical red grapes such as Cannonau and Carignano. It matures in steel and a year further in barriques (oak barrels).
Mariano IV, named after a wise governor of Sardinia during the 12th Century is another red, this time made 100% with Cannonau grapes. It has a caracteristically intense red colour. It matures in Tonneaux (500 litres oak barrels)and it has a 14% of alcohol. To the palate shows a delicate and persistent taste.
Arcais is the youngest and let's say easy going red. Also made 100% of Cannonau grapes it is a young wine which matures in steel and further more in the bottle. Our white wines are
Bagùas, 100% made with Vermentino grapes very good to have with seafood, white meats, soups or taken as aperitif and
Leonora, made in a limited production with a selection of white grapes, it matures in oak barrels for 18 months. It is a 14% white wine with a very strong personality.
